Joe Conyers III


Joe Conyers III is the Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Songtrust, as well as VP of Technology for Downtown Music Publishing. Joe was named a Digital Power Player by Billboard consecutively the last three years. At Downtown Joe oversees digital/new media licensing, product management, and other technology-focused initiatives. In addition to his role at Downtown, Joe leads its rights management platform Songtrust, an online service that helps music makers and rights holders collect their royalties. Joe has led Songtrust’s 70 odd person team from representing 1,000 to over 150k writers with works recorded by numerous GRAMMY award winning artists, and 30 of 50 Billboard Top Hip Hop and R&B artists.

Outside of his day-to-day, Joe advises and invests in startups individually, through Downtown’s portfolio, and as a Techstars Music Mentor. In February 2019, Joe was appointed to the Operational Advisory Committee for the Mechanical Licensing Collective. Joe additionally serves on the young alumni board of Pace University’s Seidenberg school. Prior to entering the music industry, Joe worked in strategy, product, and analysis roles with a variety of startup to large technology businesses in real estate, media, finance and health industries.
