Inspired, future focused entrepreneur and executive with extensive experience in the music, marketing and mobile content industries. Owner and founder of Managed X Thabiso, a talent management and music services company and Director of Urban and Head of U-Live Africa at Universal Music Group Africa. Thabiso, popularly known as Scholar (short for HipHopScholar), started as an intern at Sony Music Entertainment in the mid 1990's and saved up enough to start his first ever venture, an independent record label, in fact South Africa's first ever all Hip Hop independent record label. The label never had a commercial success but provided invaluable lessons on business management for Thabiso and served as a stepping stone to his ascend in the African music industry. Years later Thabiso would start Cashtime Life, one of South Africa's most successful independent labels. The label dominated the music scene and helped make South African Hip Hop one of the most lucrative genres on the continent. The label also provided consultation services to FMCG brand that wanted to connect with young consumers. Thabiso is a highly sought after music executive with a keen ability to build artists into brands and then leverage their brand equity to create various income streams.
